How I Increased My FB “likes” 25% In 7.5 Hours By Sending One Simple Email
In the last 12 months I’ve read 100’s of articles, watched dozens of webinars, listened to countless teleseminars and even took a course in social media marketing. But, as with anything, the breakthrus come when you put into practice the things you’ve learned to deepen the learning and take it another step.
That breakthrough happened for me two weeks ago when I got a 25% increase in my FB “likes” in less than 8 hours.
How did I do it?
Simple. I wrote an email to my list and let them know about something of interest to them that a fan had shared on my Page. I went from 301 to 366 fans just by sending that email. Two weeks later, I’m up to 413 fans.
Now, granted, the numbers aren’t huge. But, I just started paying attention to this page in the past few months. It’d slowly grown to 296 without my doing much besides adding quick pieces of content on a regular basis.
On a Sunday afternoon, I realized how close I was to breaking the 300 mark and I posted a quick status update on both the Business Page and my personal page to let people know we were only 4 away and asking them to help get those last 4 people by the end of Sunday. Within a couple of hours the goal was met.
A Lightbulb Moment
I then put on my marketing hat and thought I could probably increase engagement and get far more “likes” if I called attention to a post a reader had shared the previous week.
After all, the website is www.all-natural-dog-treat.com. My readers are interested in dog treat recipes to keep their dogs healthy. This particular reader had shared her own recipe for frozen dog treats on the Facebook Page.
I’d already thanked her. But I decided to go a step further and sent a short note to my email list directing them to her recipe on the dog treat Facebook page.
I set up the email in about 20 minutes on Sunday afternoon to go out on Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m. By 2:00 p.m., I had those 66 new “likes”. Over the next few hours and days those numbers continued to grow.
I’m excited about this because it represents a breakthrough in my own learning through a successful cross promotion. And, because I do interact with my readers on Facebook, it’s a terrific avenue to build stronger relationships and strengthen those bonds.
You Can Do This Too
If you hang out in marketing circles, you’ve probably heard about integrated marketing. Essentially, it’s a form of cross-promotion. This is but one small example.
