Why Successful Social Media Marketing is Like Vitamins
If you only take your vitamins once or twice a month, you wouldn’t expect them to have much of an impact on the way you feel, right?
Social media is much the same.
If you get a Facebook page up and post on it 2-3 times, you’re not going to see much a difference. You have to make it a regular part of your marketing mix. For example, if you regularly go to networking events, you plan for those by putting them in your calendar.
You can plan for your Facebook page in the same way.
Here’s How to Set Up Your Facebook Marketing
1– Set up www.google.com/alerts. Use keywords relevant to your industry and set up two or three to start.
This will bring back blog posts, Youtube videos, news stories, all manner of info in a quick to scan email. Check out the links that seem interesting and periodically share some of the interesting tidbits on your Facebook page.
2—Share photos. When you go to networking events, take some pictures and share those on your Facebook Page. Let the people who are in them know they’re on your Page by sending them a note or tagging them.
If you create tangible items—florists, for example, post pictures of projects you’re working on. Before and after pictures are great too.
3—Post text updates on what you’re doing if it’s not visual work. For example, if you’re a business coach, you can share how you helped a client have a breakthrough—or achievements of your clients.

Have fun with it.
Facebook marketing isn’t supposed to be painful.
People go to Facebook to have fun and to relax. Be a part of the fun by providing interesting and light hearted content related to your business and you’ll find your “likes” increasing. Ultimately, you’ll find you have stronger relationships with some of the people on your Facebook page and they’ll become clients.
